Design/Graphics Standards
Churches grow. Ministries are added and graphics standards get
overlooked. Many churches go one way or the other with their
graphics standards. Either they allow the various ministries
to drift off on individual tangents – graphically speaking
– or a church will become very inflexible in an attempt
to control a consistent graphic presentation. There is a middle
ground that gives a consistent look but allows for flexibility.
The answer is in a plan for the evolution of your graphics presentation.
It’s called a graphics standards manual and it answers
all questions before they’re asked.
Direct Mail
Direct mail should be used three ways:
Visitor follow-up
A letter from the pastor, a letter from the youth pastor and
a letter from the Home Group Leader nearest the visitor? Is
that too much? Is there a better way to utilize direct mail
for visitor follow-up? Remember, your goal is to show this person
the Love of Christ. Can that be done through direct mail in
a way that compels them to return to the church?
Primary market area awareness – We can create a unique
set of direct mail post cards that are so popular among many
churches today. Or, we can draw from a set of stock cards to
reduce the cost. Either way, direct mail – while very
much misunderstood – can be used to create a primary market
area awareness for your church. The problem with generating
primary market area awareness is most media are much too expensive
and cover an area that is much too large. In other words, you
waste a lot of money. The choice for direct mail, while response
rates typically run low, is many times a wise choice
New member follow-up
Ahhh… They’re in. They’ve decided to to become
a part of the church. Time for another letter from the Senior
Pastor or Minister? Is there a better way to use direct mail
to let them know they’ve made the right choice?
Signage
As your church grows, the signage needs will constantly evolve.
We can set up the template and help your signage and facilities
people with the best materials to fit their needs. We’ll
ensure that you are always consistent in your signage and that
you stay up with the needs of signage as your church grows.
Guest Packets
What does your guest take away with him/her? An impression?
A curiosity?
A badly produced guest packet? What you give them should compel
them to want to learn more or, even better, find their place
at your church. If it does the right thing inside an overall
Godly Growth strategy, they won’t even think in terms
of your church, they’ll call it their church! People want
one of two things after visiting your church: 1) Attendance
without expectation or what might be viewed as Spiritual anonymity.
2) Involvement . The visitor or guest materials should offer
either one without difficulty of discovery. The design should
be consistent with what they’ve seen and felt at the church.
Print Advertising
Does your local paper have a religious section? Does your church
advertise in it… along with every other church? What about
the yellow pages? Are there in local, regional or national magazines
that you should consider with your advertising dollars? Yes,
some national magazines have local pages available for local
advertisers? There are some rules regarding print advertising.
We would love to impart hundreds of years of experience to you
regarding what you should do with your print advertising.
Church Bulletins
Whether it’s shells for your overprinting or complex four
color 8 and 12 page weekly brochures – as is the case
with Lakewood Church – we have the designers and writers
to bring this critical part of your information dissemination
up to an unprecedented standard of excellence. Is it enough
for your church bulletin or worship schedule to simply inform
or should you consider other uses for this critical touch point
with both members and visitors.
New Convert Follow-up
How involved is your church in evangelism? Are you taking Jesus
to the streets? The prisons? The local nursing homes? What then?
A Godly Growth strategy will help you bring the hurting and
lost into the church. A Godly Growth strategy will aim to increase
the effect of your evangelism efforts and keep track of those
converts through a variety of strategy executions.
